Welcome to our Story
We are a Not for Profit (CLG) role play centre 'Heol Chwarae Rol TA Role Play Lane' in Llantwit Fardre, South Wales, and support children, parents and families well-being and education. We are passionate about catering for ALN families, so hold regular sessions.
How it started: Jo (now Managing Director) was the owner of ‘Role Play Lane’ from 2018-2022 before it was changed to a Not-for-profit in Oct 2022. Previously a primary school teacher, Jo noticed a need for a role play centre in Wales where children could learn through play, improve their social, language, communication skills and fine and gross motor skills in a fun and welcoming environment.
Jo had already embarked on a creative career - having a musical theatre background, writing songs on guitar and piano and setting up her own baby and toddler music groups whilst her children were young and doing supply work. So the leap to opening a role play centre was obvious…in her eyes!
After opening the role play centre in 2018, and doing well in the first 18 months…making plans for the future, arranging interviews for more staff etc… COVID hit which changed ALOT of things, and the realisation that the community needed the role play centre more than ever for their wellbeing was evident. Jo reached out to other professionals with the same vision - to change the role play centre into a Not for Profit company - Heol Chwarae Rol Ltd TA Role Play Lane and supporting the needs of the community, so we now have 5 voluntary directors who are committed to supporting our beneficiaries.
We apply for grants to help support the community by keeping our costs down and also offering a range of sessions that benefit the communities mental health, well being and education through fun and engaging sessions, in a friendly and welcoming environment. No judgement, just support and with families best interest in mind. We regularly hold ALN sessions, with restricted numbers, sensory lights, soft lighting, classical musical and also collaborate with partners to enhance sessions.
Grants are hard work! They take days/weeks at a time submit and are not guaranteed, so we do rely on our lovely customers to keep attending are non funded session, share our posts and spread the word about what we are striving to achieve.
